AUSTIN — Students from East Austin College Prep demonstrated their tech-savvy at two separate events this week, including one at the Texas State Capitol. The Globaloria game design program was the focus of both events for EAPrep students.

On Monday, Feb, 4, EAPrep students showcased educational web games on a series of topics from safe driving to healthy living at the 2013 Texas Capitol Schoolhouse. The 2013 Texas Capitol Schoolhouse is a legislative event to give students and teachers from across the state of Texas the opportunity to showcase how technology is being used to improve public schools. The goal of the event is to provide information for legislators, other state leaders, and the general public about how the most advanced technologies and best practices are improving the way teachers teach and students learn.

Then on Wednesday, Feb 6th, parents and community members had the opportunity to see the Globaloria game design program in action at both campuses of EAPrep for Digital Learning Day, anational day of high-tech open houses in America’s schools and learning centers brought about by the World Wide Workshop’s Globaloria and the Alliance for Excellent Education.

Teachers at both campuses of EAPrep opened the digital media classrooms to give visitors a personal tour of the innovative student-designed Globaloria games.  Among the visitors on Wednesday was Omar L. Gallaga, technology writer for the Austin American-Statesman.

The Globaloria program at EAPrep is generously funded by AMD Changing the Game.
